Mother’s Day at New Street Grill

2 April 2017

Last weekend my family and I went for a meal at New Street Grill in London to celebrate Mother’s Day.

The restaurant is only a 5 minute walk from Liverpool Street station. I love that area, there is such a contrast between old and new and so there is something new to notice and admire everywhere you look.

I had been looking online for ideas of where to go and came across New Street Grill. It had great reviews and anywhere that does steak always seems to go down well with the men in the family. As with a lot of the buildings in this area, the restaurant venue is steeped in history as it is set in an 18th century warehouse.

We took our seats and looked through the special Mother’s Day menu, struggling to decide between the delicious sounding options.

There was plenty of wine to choose from with a huge glass wine cabinet in the restaurant.

We worked through the basket of freshly baked warm bread while waiting for our orders to come out.

For starters, I went with the chicken, ham and prune terrine with salad and yet more bread…

…and for my main I had chosen the pork belly which came with some of the best crackling I’ve ever had and a huge bowl of the crispiest roast potatoes.

I ate far too much but having spotted chocolate brownie on the menu, I couldn’t not order it.

We had such a lovely meal to celebrate our very special mummy. I would definitely recommend the restaurant and look forward to going back and trying more dishes from the menu.

We didn’t want the celebrations to end after dinner so we went to Sushisamba for a drink afterwards and to enjoy the view.

Simon then suggested a pub he knows nearby but once we took our seats inside, we realised that there was an ulterior motive as the pub conveniently happened to be showing the football…

Our mummys always do so much for us and so it’s nice to have a day dedicated to showing our appreciation and love for them. I hope that you all had a lovely day with lots of hugs, kisses and smiles.
